    System availability is the simplest and most important question a company can ask about its infrastructure: is the system operational and can users access it at any given time? Availability monitoring focuses on precisely this, leaving more detailed resource utilization analysis to the background.

    What is the difference between availability monitoring and resource monitoring?

    Availability monitoring addresses the question of whether a system is functioning at all and responding to requests within an acceptable timeframe. This is different from monitoring CPU load or disk usage – a system can have ample resources yet be unavailable due to an application error, a network problem, or the failure of a single service on which the entire system depends.

    Regularly check key services

    The basis of availability monitoring is regular, automated queries sent to key company systems—the website, business application, email, and payment system. If a system doesn't respond within the expected timeframe or returns an error, monitoring detects this almost immediately, instead of waiting for a report from an employee or customer.
